$30
Hailing from Mexico, this outstanding string quartet features one Californian- and three Cuban-born musicians. The Quartet's name honors Cuba's foremost 19th-century violinist and composer, José White, a teacher in Paris of Georges Enesco and Jacques Thibaud who enjoyed a stellar concert career in Europe and the Americas. The Quartet's international reputation was launched with a First Prize win in the 2000 Mexican National Chamber Music Competition, and they have toured the US and Canada to popular and critical success. "Their rhythmic intensity was exhilarating, their emotional involvement electrifying" (The Plain Dealer). Joining the Quartet in a masterwork of the Romantic repertoire is Clayton State University faculty pianist Michiko Otaki, widely praised for her superb musicianship. "Otaki's playing was alert and lively with fire to burn" (Ft. Myers News-Press).
