Description

About the Artists

Musical collaborations are central to his concert career. “Great organists,” maintains Philadelphia’s Broad Street Review, ‘impress us with virtues like flair, sensitivity and their grasp of musical structure. Alan Morrison fits the description. In every piece, Morrison kept his instrument under restrained, precisely calculated control, so that he and the other musicians created a perfectly balanced blend.”

Joining Alan to conclude Spivey Hall’s 30th Anniversary Season celebrations of the Albert Schweitzer Memorial Organ are chamber musician and cellist of the award winning Vega Quartet, Guang Wang; Korean-born American pianist Min Kwon, praised for her “captivating enthusiasm, superb technique, warm emotional lyricism, and explosive energy” (The Piano); and “the feisty, rich-voiced soprano Karen Slack” (The New York Times), whose performances with the Metropolitan Opera, Lyric Opera of Chicago, Washington National Opera, and San Francisco Opera, among many others, have garnered glowing acclaim. “With beautiful tone and great high notes she can spin back into a gorgeous piano, the kind of voice that can sing anything beautifully, engaging the heart brilliantly” (San Francisco Classical Voice).
