The rich miser Buonafede refuses to allow his daughters to have their dowries and get married, but his neighbor, the astronomer Ecclitico, devises an elaborate scheme to free the girls by whisking Buonafede off to what he thinks is “the world of the Moon,” where customs are very different from those back home on Earth—old goats become young bucks, kitchen maids become empresses, and young ladies can marry whom they please! But what will happen when Buonafede discovers the ruse?
