Spivey Hall is proud to welcome the celebrated, long-time duo of tenor Ian Bostridge and pianist Julius Drake. Their collaboration spans over three decades, marked by insightful performances in major world concert halls. Renowned for their performances of Schubert’s Winterreise, today they present three major song cycles of Robert Schumann. Composed during his 1840 “Liederjahr,” the year that culminated with Schumann’s marriage to Clara Wieck, these are some of the greatest works of German Romanticism.
Bostridge was awarded a Commander of the Order of the British Empire (CBE) in 2004. The Los Angeles Times says “Bostridge sings as if from inside the music, as if he has found a way to produce pure, disembodied emotion.”
