Pianist Gabriela Montero returns to Spivey Hall with Westward, a program featuring extraordinary immigrant composers and anchored by her improvised accompaniment to Charlie Chaplin’s 1917 film, The Immigrant. Known as a master improviser, Montero’s visionary interpretations and unique compositions have received critical acclaim and brought her a devoted following. A multiple-Grammy® and International Beethoven Award winner, Montero has been recognized by Amnesty International and the Human Rights Foundation as a committed human rights advocate for her work in her native Venezuela.
