About the Artists
Spivey Hall is delighted to present the debut performances of both the Ying Quartet and Xavier Foley, double bassist and composer. To celebrate this collaboration, Foley is writing a new work which will be paired with Dvořák’s String Quintet, Op. 77.
The Ying Quartet combines brilliantly communicative performances with a fearlessly imaginative view of chamber music in today’s world. “Our mission has always been twofold: to make classical music a relevant and vital part of American culture in all its diversity, and to do so with the highest standards of artistic integrity.”
Xavier Foley is “A dazzling player who hears borders between styles as limitations best ignored.” (Philadelphia Inquirer)
