This is a small group experience for 10-45 students. Participants experience the following:
-
Backstage Tour with an emphasis on careers in the arts; includes a trip to Spivey Hall’s sound booth and the organ’s bellows room.
-
Science of Sound lesson with hands-on activities that reflect on how sounds travel through organ pipes.
-
On Stage Organ Discovery that includes a tour of the interior of the organ, hands-on opportunities with organ keyboard, and organ sound demonstrations by a professional organist.
Each session is approximately 20 minutes in length and we recommend that attending groups utilize Spivey Hall’s free Distance Learning program The King of Instruments prior to attending.
The entire event ends with a short organ performance – 1-2 pieces.
